Making Hounslow cleaner and greener; a place where our residents enjoy working, living and visiting, is a key priority for the council.
We have some fantastic spaces, communities and neighbourhoods in Hounslow, and like many other places, we are experiencing challenges from littering, increases in fly tipping, and a perceived loss of civic pride. These behaviours are blighting our environment and we want to change how we tackle these challenges so that Hounslow remains a great place.
Under the banner of Cleaner Greener Hounslow, we aim to work with our partners; Recycle 360, Greenspace 360 and Hounslow Highways, to improve recycling and the street environment across the borough and through a deeper understanding of issues, to more effectively target efforts and work with residents to reshape services.
Hounslow has a proactive, passionate and enthusiastic community that is very committed to the borough which has recently been demonstrated through the ongoing efforts of our many community groups and volunteers.
In June, we held two Community Workshops were members of the public came along to share some new ideas with us on how to make a difference in their local communities. The events were very well attended and many great ideas put forward. Since then we have been evaluating the ideas and looking at how we can work with residents and partner organisations to implement these over the coming months.
It's certainly an exciting time for Hounslow and we hope we can rely on your support with the many initiatives that will be put forward. We will communicate these regularly in this newsletter. For more information on the campaign, please visit: www.hounslow.gov.uk/CleanerGreenerHounslow
With the weather switching from wet to sunny over the past couple of months, our gardens are all in full flourish. If you didn't get around to subscribing to the garden waste collection service this year, don't worry - it's not too late!
You can still join up for the standard fee of £50 per year and spend more time enjoying your garden and less time down at your local household recycling centre disposing of your garden waste!
For more information about the service, please visit www.hounslow.gov.uk/gardenwaste
Once subscribed, you will receive a confirmation email. Please note – you may need to check your ‘junk mail’ folder for this email.
If you are re-subscribing it can take up to 10 working days to process your subscription or to receive your bin/sacks if you are new to the service. If you have any questions, you can access our Frequently Asked Questions document HERE. The Collection Day finder will show your first scheduled collection when we have processed your subscription.
Join us for our summer clean-ups!
You may be aware of previous clean up events held earlier this year which were part of the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean. Hounslow had the highest number of events in the capital! This is testament to what can be achieved when the community get involved and work together to support an environment we can all enjoy.
Encouraged by this success, Hounslow Council and our partners are coordinating and supporting a further series of clean up events throughout the summer.
For full details of upcoming events and how you can get involved visit our Community in action webpage

Can you spare #2 minutes?
Due to the success of the international #2minutebeachclean, the campaign has now moved inland and into a park near you and relabelled #2minutelitterpick
To support this scheme, the London Borough of Hounslow has installed 24 litter pick boards within some of our most popular parks and open spaces.
The boards are supplied with a litter picker and biodegradable bags to encourage visitors to spend as little as 2 minutes collecting litter, with information to easily record your litter pick and help spread the word on social media using the campaign hashtag #2minutelitterpick
We even have kiddie-friendly 'dinosaur' litter pickers for any eager young helpers to borrow. To find a board near you follow the link to the map here.
