Health and Wellbeing Newsletter

November 2023

Welcome to your November Health and Wellbeing Newsletter!

As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, now is a great time to think about how we can prioritise self-care, and our physical and mental health. This month we will be talking all things wellbeing, and how we can support you to stay well this November.

Self Care Week

5 Ways to Wellbeing

The 13-19th November is Self Care Week. The week aims to raise awareness of how important it is to prioritise taking care of ourselves and our wellbeing. Evidence suggests there are 5 simple steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing. Trying these things could help you feel more positive and able to get the most out of life!

1) Connect with other people

2) Be physically active

3) Learn new skills

4) Give to others

5) Pay attention to the present moment

Horsham District Council provide a volunteering service matching people who want to volunteer with charities and groups that need their time and skills.

Giving to others can help provide a sense of community, whilst making a positive difference to peoples lives. There are a variety of roles to suit everybody. Find out if there is the perfect role for you below.

Wellbeing Walks

Engaging in regular walking boosts your energy levels by increasing oxygen flow throughout the body, improving cardiovascular fitness, and releasing endorphins, which are natural mood enhancers - great for your both your physical and mental wellbeing!

Our volunteer led walks are the perfect way to see more of the District, increase your activity and meet new people.

So this November, why not put on your wellies and join us!

movember

Movember

Movember takes place every year and encourages men to grow moustaches, with the aim of raising awareness of important men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

At Horsham Wellbeing, we know that men are less likely to access our service and we want to change that.

We would like honest feedback and ideas from men across the District to find out more about what might encourage you to get involved. Click the link below to take part in our short and anonymous survey.
