Alcohol Awareness Week

Alcohol

This Alcohol Awareness Week is focusing on the true cost of alcohol to highlight the personal costs of drinking too much and the benefits of cutting down, as well as the wider costs to society.

The cost-of-living crisis has also played a key role in causing some people to drink more than they’d like to cope with worries around the crisis.

By taking control of our drinking habits, we can save money, gain back more time, improve our health, have more energy, improve our memory, have better sleep, improve mood, better our relationships. The list really does go on!

At Horsham Wellbeing we are lucky to have two Advisors who specialise in alcohol support and offer free face-to-face guidance. Read on to find out more about the service and how we could help you or a loved one.

Alcohol Advice Service

Our Alcohol support service provides a series of FREE one-to-one sessions to support people who may be drinking at increasing risk or higher risk levels.

It is a confidential, non-judgmental service with no group work involved and people are not expected to stop drinking completely unless they want to.

Each session last approximately 45 mins and we are pleased to be able to offer these face-to- face or over the phone. Although you can have up to 8 sessions, you can opt to have fewer or just the one.

If you feel drink is sneaking up on you and you could benefit from this service, it is very easy to be referred or to refer yourself.

Improving care for men

Men's Health Week took place last month, during which we ran 3 male health clinics offering wellbeing and NHS Heath checks.

We want to make sure we continue to encourage men to seek medical help and advice which is why we have produced a short survey to help us understand how we can better cater to men's needs.

Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July is exactly what it sounds like, a movement to try and encourage people to use less or no plastic in the month of July. It’s a really good way for people to get involved and think about what they’re buying and to hopefully make some permanent changes to reduce the amount of plastic in their day to day lives.

The first Plastic Free July was back in 2011 and was started by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz and a few people from the local Western Australian Government. It’s quite incredible that a small campaign in Australia is now known around the world with millions of participants from numerous different countries.
