Weight Off Workshop Session 10
|
So in this session you would have learnt that sleep and stress play an important part in not only emotional wellbeing but weight loss as well.
The amount of sleep required for any individual can differ from one to the next and this also has a close relation to the hormones produced.
The negative effects of sleep deprivation and stress can have a very detrimental impact on your body, and your overall health and wellbeing.

What symptoms could affect me?
Being sleep deprived and having feelings of stress and anxiety can lead us to be at a much higher risk of developing diseases and feeling generally unwell. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and strokes.
|
Managing your stress
When we are tired or stressed, our hormones get imbalanced making us prone to storing fat more readily. Our eating habits and willingness to consume more high fat and calorific foods become altered and you could begin to lack doing any exercise.
When stress is chronic, your body produces high levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. Cortisol triggers cravings for salty, sweet, and fried foods.
These can give you a burst of energy and pleasure but only for a short while so it's important to find other healthy ways to manage stress levels.

Sleep better
Sleep is a vital, often neglected, component of every person's overall health and wellbeing.
Sleep is important because it enables the body to repair and be fit and ready for another day.
Getting adequate rest may also help prevent excess weight gain, heart disease, and increased illness duration.
The One You website has a range of resources and information about sleep available:
