May Newsletter 2022

Summer is on its way!

One of the many benefits of the summer is the positive effect that it has on mental health. The sun gives us more vitamin D, which raises energy levels and simply makes us feel happier.

There's still time to sign up to one of our wellbeing courses, book a place on a talk or workshop and pop along and see us at the Wellbeing Centre, where you can chat to organisations that will be available for you throughout May.

client

Congratulations Margaret!

Our client of the month award goes to 76-year old Margaret who has achieved so much and is still continuing her successful journey.

Margaret wanted to make some changes to her lifestyle so she had 1-2-1 appointment with one of our Wellbeing Advisors, which she said really helped her to stay on track with her goals. Margaret went on to join our Strong and Steady course to improve her strength and balance and following that signed up to our weight management course.

She has now lost an amazing 4kg (over 8lbs), her BMI is now in a healthier range and she has made great improvements across all strength, balance and mobility measures.

Margaret said; "The WOW course was fantastic. It was an encouraging environment with like-minded people who were very supportive. The Strong and Steady instructor was excellent and I have maintained regular exercise''.

WOW!

Over a series of 24 sessions comprising low-impact exercises, this course aims to keep you feeling strong and steady on your feet with the added bonus of meeting like-minded people so you get to enjoy the social side of things too.

If you or someone you know would benefit from improving their strength, balance and confidence in a friendly and supportive environment then get in touch.

5 a day image

Top tips to get your five-a-day

Tip no 4 - Be mindful of dried fruits: A 30g portion of dried fruits, like apricots, dates, raisins etc. counts towards your five-a-day. However, once fruit is dried it also becomes a concentrated source of sugar and calories. To minimise damage to teeth, keep to mealtimes and not as a between-meal snack.
