Public consultation on sanctions legislation

Today, HM Government launches a public consultation  on its proposals for domestic sanctions legislation.  

The consultation sets out the Government’s thinking on the overarching legal powers the UK will need to:

• meet its UN obligations to implement UN sanctions and
• impose its own domestic sanctions following the UK’s withdrawal from the EU

The consultation will run for nine weeks and will close on 23 June 2017.
