Launch of the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI)

Dear subscriber,

The Treasury has today established within it the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI). This follows the announcement made by the Chancellor at the Summer Budget 2015. OFSI will support the UK’s foreign policy and national security goals and work to help maintain the integrity of and confidence in the UK financial services sector. OFSI’s principle aims are to:

  • increase awareness of and compliance with financial sanctions;
  • ensure that sanctions breaches are rapidly detected and effectively addressed; and
  • provide a professional service to the public and industry on financial sanctions issues.

OFSI will continue and build on the work carried out by the Treasury’s Financial Sanctions team.

The press release announcing the launch as well as our new webpages can be found on the gov.uk website.

The consolidated list and Notices will continue to be produced by OFSI and will be published on the gov.uk website.

As advised in previous notifications, the Treasury has changed its email addresses relating to financial sanctions. From today our correspondence address has changed to ofsi@hmtreasury.gsi.gov.uk.

If you have submitted any kind of application, report, or query to the Financial Sanctions team please note that OFSI will continue to process all of these and will respond accordingly. There is no need for you to contact us or re-submit any documents. Please note that all responses from OFSI will now be sent from ofsi@hmtreasury.gsi.gov.uk.

From today all new enquiries, licence applications, licence reports, reports of frozen assets, and breach forms should be sent to ofsi@hmtreasury.gsi.gov.uk.

HM Treasury has also changed the email address we use to send out our notifications. All future notifications from OFSI will be sent from this address: hmt.ofsi@public.govdelivery.com.

Best regards,

Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation
