HMCTS appoints a new non-executive director
Nick Fishwick joins HMCTS as a new non-executive director, following his appointment by the Board on 2 January 2024.
The primary role of non-executive directors is to contribute to the effective delivery of the organisation’s goals.
Blackpool Magistrates' and County Court update
Blackpool Magistrates’ and County Court buildings closed in November 2023 due to the deterioration of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) at the site.
The buildings, which were due to close by the end of 2024 as part of the town regeneration scheme, will not re-open.
Hearings will take place across other sites in Lancashire until a new state-of the art courthouse in Blackpool opens in 2026.
Preston Combined Court update
Preston Combined Court will temporarily close on Friday 22 March 2024 to allow essential building maintenance works to take place, while minimising disruption by carrying out the works over the Easter bank holidays.
It will reopen on Monday 8 April 2024. During this time, hearings will be relocated to other sites in Lancashire.
The Rolls Building update
The Rolls Building is scheduled to reopen as normal on Monday 22 January 2024 following a temporary closure due to a power issue.
Hearings were held online or at the Royal Courts of Justice while the power issue was fixed.
