Assessing access to justice in reformed services

We’ve published assessments into some of our reformed online services. The findings from the reports will feed into a wider evaluation of the reform programme.

HMCTS safeguarding policy

We've updated our policy to further explain our position on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults to ensure the safety of all.

Christmas and New Year open times

Our courts and tribunals will temporarily close over the Christmas period, although some sites may be open on certain days for particular types of work.

'Help with Fees' expansion

The 'Help with Fees' scheme was expanded in November. Guidance has been updated and includes applications relating to fees paid before 27 November.

British Transport Police cases in England and Wales are now being managed on Common Platform. Queries can be directed to our service centre.

Legal experts using the Online Civil Money Claims service can raise a claim against a litigant in person and the claim will remain online if they are registered on MyHMCTS.

Our Court and Tribunal Service Centre are now answering phone calls and webchat enquiries relating to divorce applications from 10am to 6pm.​

The Justice Committee has launched a new inquiry into probate around timeliness of processing applications. Evidence can be submitted until 22 January 2024.
