Fees for barristers
The government announced this week that fees for barristers who help vulnerable witnesses and victims to pre-record their cross examination will rise to £1,000.

The Justice Select Committee issued a call for evidence on all aspects of the use of pre-recorded cross-examination, including the effects on witnesses, victims, defendants and juries.
Reminder: Defence professionals need to check in using Common Platform for court hearings
By checking in each time you attend a court hearing, Common Platform then lets others know that you are attending and ready. It also records your name against the court record for payment purposes, both for magistrates’ and Crown Courts.

Family Public Law applications
When making a Family Public Law application, legal professionals must include at least one respondent’s name.
If the respondent has died or their whereabouts are not known, select ‘No’ to the current address known on MyHMCTS.
If you know the respondent's address, use the postcode to find and select the address. Addresses outside the UK should be added manually.
