National Highways Marketing Campaign Update - March 2024
Hello,
Hot on the heels of our anti-litter ‘Lend a paw’ campaign, this month we have launched our new ‘Little changes, change everything’ campaign. This campaign encourages drivers to make a few small changes to the way they drive, to improve their – and everyone’s – experience on the road.
The first little changes we will be highlighting are :
Don't hog the middle lane
Many drivers aren’t aware that they must drive in the left lane by default. However, Highway Code Rule 264 states, ‘Keep in the left lane unless overtaking. If you are overtaking, then return to the left lane when it is safe to do so’.
Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front
Close following – or tailgating – is a factor in 1 in 8 collisions on our road network*. Keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in front gives you time to react and stop if necessary.
What does the campaign look like?
We’ve created a brand-new TV advert, using a catchy soundtrack, to reinforce these important safety messages. Watch or listen out for our new TV and radio ads. Alternatively, head over to our social media channels to like and share our campaign using.
If you’re passionate about improving safety on our roads, please help us to spread the message about these ‘little changes’ and how they can transform everyone’s experience of motorway driving. Check out our campaign webpage to learn more.
We hope you’ve enjoyed your March update. Look out for more marketing campaign news next month.
Best wishes,
The National Highways Marketing team
