Welcome to our latest newsletter for the A31 Ringwood bridge replacement and road widening scheme.
The end is in sight!
We're currently planning for our work to replace the bridges and widen the westbound A31 at Ringwood to be completed by 6am Saturday 19 November.
Following the successful switching of westbound road users from the contraflow back to the westbound carriageway and opening of the westbound Verwood exit slip road, we're on track to complete our work in the central reservation, two weeks early!
To achieve this, we need four more overnight closures of the A31, to carry out final tasks and remove all traffic management, details of these are below.

Upcoming closures
We’ll be closing the A31 between 8pm and 6am on the following:

Tuesday 15 November – eastbound between A338 Ashley Heath and M27 J1 Cadnam

Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 November – westbound between M27 J1 Cadnam and A338 Ashley Heath

Friday 18 November – eastbound between A338 Ashley Heath and M27 J1 Cadnam
A signed diversion route will be in place. Please allow additional time for journeys during these closures.
What happens next?
We’re currently planning to fully open the A31 from 6am on Saturday 19 November. This means that all three lanes westbound, all four lanes eastbound, the westbound Ringwood entry slip road and eastbound Verwood entry slip road will be open.
Following this, no further closures or restrictions are planned for our scheme.
Our compound on the Somerley Industrial Estate will be removed in early December with the land being returned to its former condition.
The A31 will be returned to the care of the National Highways Operations Team for day-to-day running.
We are also making a contribution to Ringwood Against Climate Extinction (RACE) towards future tree-planting.
Meeting the community
We met with members of the Ringwood Veterans group on Friday 21 October at Ringwood Library to talk about the installation of the new bridges and the works coming to a close.
In early November, Emily Hudson, a journalist from BBC Solent came to film our project manager, Daniel Kittredge talking to pupils and their headteacher from Poulner Junior School about the new bridges and environmental concerns.
