Welcome to the latest edition of the M25 junction 25 improvement scheme newsletter, thank you for your interest in our project.
We are making great progress on all areas of our junction improvements, and we’ll soon complete the construction of:
- the new Holmesdale tunnel exit slip road
- the dedicated exit slip road from the M25 clockwise on to the A10 northbound.
What we’ve done so far
Our new path for pedestrians and cyclists is progressing well at the southeast section of the junction
Our weekend closure on 13 August to 16 August, allowed us to carry out surfacing works on the roundabout
With the summer holidays and more people returning to the office, we have seen traffic levels steadily increasing and more vehicles are now using the junction. In recognition of this, we continue to work closely with the highway’s maintenance contactor and our local highways authorities to minimise disruption and share road closures wherever possible, to help keep traffic moving.
In August, we reduced the width of the three lanes on the A10 southbound and started to prepare the road approaching the junction for widening. You can see our traffic management supervisor talk through this process and explain why we chose to use narrow lanes instead of closing the inside lane on our short Facebook video.
Other works are also taking place near the junction on both the local highway authority network and the motorway. If you’d like to know more visit One.Network where you’ll be able to see what works are taking place, by whom and when.
What’s happening over the next couple of months
In the coming months, the new dedicated exit slip road that takes traffic directly from the M25 clockwise onto the A10 northbound will open for traffic, easing some of the congestion on the junction and its approach during peak travel time.
We will also be completing the Holmesdale tunnel exit slip road as well as providing a temporary pedestrian crossing for walkers and cyclists. Once these are complete, we will be starting further work on the roundabout.
To allow us to complete this work safety, the traffic management on the junction will swap from the outer lane to the inner lane. We will keep everyone updated on this process with advanced signage onsite, as well through social media and website updates.
In the community
The weather bloomed and so did we! 🌼
Our environmental team found a large number of wildflowers growing at our compound. Not only do these flowers supress dust but they also provide a home for local bees and butterflies. Read all about how the flowers are the perfect pollinators here.
