Welcome to the latest update on our proposals to improve the M25 junction 10/A3 Wisley interchange.
What’s been happening?
We have now started some minor work and surveys that will help us be better prepared for construction, should we get approval in May from the Secretary of State. If we do not get approval, we can return these areas to the same condition they were in before.
The work taking place won’t impact you but below is a summary of what it involves:
- From April, we will be doing some work at Nutberry Fruit Farm to make sure we protect any wildlife on site if work goes ahead. We’ll also be doing surveys to check the ground for anything of interest to our archaeology teams. This site would become our project office, so we will also be putting in place some utility connections like electricity.
- If the works go ahead, we will use air quality monitors to measure for road traffic pollutant (nitrogen dioxide), dust and particles. We are putting these monitors in place now to start collecting the baseline information to measure ourselves against in the future.
- We will also be digging some small holes to confirm the location of existing utilities, such as gas mains to help inform our plans.

Why and how we are improving the M25 junction 10/A3 Wisley interchange
Junction 10 is the busiest section of the M25, with over 270,000 vehicles travelling through it every day. Due to the volume of traffic and the resulting queues, this area of our network has a very poor safety record and holds one of the highest collision rates across the Highways England network.
Our proposals will reduce delays, smooth traffic flow and create safer journeys for all. A final decision on whether or not the scheme will go ahead is due from the Secretary of State in May 2021.
