The M25 is currently closed within J5 with delays of at least 60 minutes covering several miles of the clockwise
carriageway. This incident is due to a HGV fire that has taken place on the dedicated lane within J5 to remain on the M25. Traffic is now continuing on the A21 southbound towards the diversion route, Traffic from the M26 is unaffected and can continue onto the M25 . Highways England has
resources deployed working hard to restore normal conditions as soon as
possible. Kent Fire and Rescue Service have extinguished the fire and recovery is complete. We are now in the progress of reopening the road to all traffic.
For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect
disruption with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your
journey.
If travelling towards this area from much farther afield, you may wish to
change your strategic route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from
our on-road variable message signs and media.
The diversion route is signed by the hollow triangle diversion symbol and the details and guidance are as follows;
