Introducing Hyndburn Council's Portfolio Holder for Business and Growth

This is the first edition of Hyndburn Council's Business E-Newsletter where we'll bring you updates on local business activities and opportunities for support. 

Councillor Scott Brerton was appointed as the Portfolio Holder for Business & Growth earlier this year.

Many people will already know Scott who is a local resident and has served as a Councillor for Overton Ward in Great Harwood since May 2022.

Scott is a former small business owner in the borough and has board level experience in the housing and construction sectors. Scott brings to this role a knowledge of the borough as well as a good understanding of the challenges and what needs to be done to improve the economic landscape in Hyndburn. Hyndburn Business Awards

Congratulations to all the entrants, runners up and winners of this years' Hyndburn Business Awards.

The evening was a fabulous success and a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate all the wonderful and diverse range of businesses that help boost our local economy.

Hyndburn Borough Council were delighted to sponsor a new category launched this year, the Green Business Award.

Lunchtime Live workshops

FSB - Federation of Small Business will cover the importance of staff wellbeing and training to retain talent.

Research consistently shows that when employees feel their work is meaningful and they are valued and supported, they tend to have higher wellbeing levels, be more committed to the organisation's goals and, importantly, they perform better too.

NCASS - Nationwide Caterers Association – Support available for businesses in the food & drink sector.

For businesses in the food & drink sector, from home based bakers through to restaurants and pubs, this workshop will cover the services accessible for all areas of the hospitality industry available through membership of the NCASS. Join this informative session to learn more about the benefits and help offered through this service.

Tuesday 28^th January 2025 12:15-1:00pm

Raising business finance - This insightful workshop will cover funding opportunities for business at key stages within their journey from pre-seed through to start-up and funding for growth.

We will hear details of eligibility criteria and the application process on the pre-seed funding of up to £200k from Praetura Ventures.

The start-up loans team from GC Business Finance will provide details on funding for new businesses from £500-£25,000.

River Capital will provide information on loans from NPIF from £25K-£100K which cover all sectors.

We regularly add new business events to the calendar and provide updates on our social media channels.

Business Drop-In Sessions

Business drop in sessions are held at venues across the borough from 9.30am - 1pm.

No appointment is required, pop in to have a chat with the Council’s Economic Development Team regarding support for your business.

At the sessions below we will also be joined by business advisors from Boost Lancashire Business Growth Hub to inform businesses about the fully funded support available to Hyndburn businesses.
