New Building Control services to bring in additional income

The Building Control team now offers new services to customers to generate additional income for the council.

Two of these services are now being rolled out, they are:

1) A fire risk assessment

All non-domestic premises must undertake an assessment of fire hazards. Working through the LABC Consult Network we are now able to provide these assessments

2) A check of the sustainability performance for new homes

The Code for Sustainable Homes is a way of rating and certifying the performance of new homes. Building Control now has a number of fully qualified, accredited and insured surveyors able to provide these assessments

Councillors may come into contact with customers who could benefit from these services such as property managers, developers or architects. If you do so please can you let them know that the council can now provide these new services at very competitive prices delivered by fully qualified, professional and insured surveyors and ask them to contact the team on the number below.

Kite-surfing record attempt

Havant Borough Council has been approached by a charity, Snow Camp, to launch a kite surfing event and world record attempt on Hayling Island in September.

The 'kite-surfing armada' will set off from Hayling beach and head for Lancing, in West Sussex. The event has been sponsored by Virgin and Sir Richard Branson is expected to take part.

The event, which will take place when wind conditions allow, further underlines Hayling’s profile as a major watersports destination, following the Watersports Festival last weekend (see below).
