The government has announced that step three in the roadmap out of lockdown will go ahead on Monday 17 May.
This includes the reopening of indoor hospitality and indoor and outdoor entertainment, including cinemas, museums, children’s play areas and outdoor performances.
From the same date, face coverings will no longer be required in classrooms, or for students in communal areas in secondary schools and colleges, and all remaining university students will be eligible to return to in-person teaching and learning.
Up to 30 people will be able to attend weddings, receptions, and commemorative events including wakes. The number of people able to attend a funeral will be determined by the number that can be safely accommodated in the venue with social distancing in place.
The Stay in the UK restriction will be lifted and people will be able to travel to green list countries, if they permit inbound travel.

Our survey for businesses and residents to tell us their views on the future of Havant borough’s high streets will close on 31 May.
We have received a lot of responses already, but would still like to hear from you about your local shopping areas - including Cowplain, Emsworth, Havant, Leigh Park, Mengham, Waterlooville and West Town.
The information provided will be used to produce a Covid-19 Recovery Plan to cover the main towns within the area as part of measures to support their recovery from the coronavirus crisis.
We have commissioned Heartflood to carry out this research using funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the Government.

Make ‘Test – Record – Repeat’ part of your weekly routine: get in the habit of regular testing and recording your result.
- Free, rapid testing is quick and convenient
- Around one in three people with coronavirus don’t have symptoms and could be spreading the virus without knowing. Regular testing without symptoms helps to identify positive cases and break chains of transmission.
- Test regularly for peace of mind that you and your loved ones are protected.
- If you test positive from a lateral flow test whether at a pharmacy, or from a self-test taken at home, you and your household must follow self-isolation guidance and you must book a confirmatory PCR test as soon as possible.
Community testing sites for people without symptoms closed on 30 April. Ordering your home test is quick and easy, find out how here.
Once you have your test, watch this video to show you how to complete your test correctly
The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine should give you good protection from coronavirus from three or four weeks after you've had it.
Having the second dose of the vaccine will give you longer lasting protection.
It’s important to keep your vaccination appointment when it is offered to you.
If you had your first dose in a hospital hub or through a GP service you will be contacted to receive your second dose. You do not need to contact the NHS.
If you booked your appointment through the national booking service you will have booked both your first and second appointments at the same time and will have been given details of your second appointment over the phone.
If you booked online you can remind yourself of the place and time of your second dose using the ‘manage my appointments’ section on www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.
