We’ve yet to find someone who likes receiving a surprise bill, so here’s some advance notice: it’s the time of the year when we need to send out new council tax bills.
It’s Havant Borough Council’s job to collect the entire bill, which is why our logo is at the top of your letter, but we retain only a very small percentage.
The amount you pay also goes towards services from Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner and Hampshire Fire and Rescue service.
Your bill will give you a breakdown and explain where your money goes.
Recycling labels on packaging can be confusing and unclear.
Remember that no matter what the labelling says there are only five materials which can be placed in your kerbside recycling bin.
Get your recycling right - take a look at our guide to what you can and can't recycle at www.havant.gov.uk/recycling.
If you find a bottle or clothing bank is full when you get to it, please take your items home with you.
Our teams work very hard to keep the borough clean and empty the banks regularly, but we also need your help.
We often experience an increase of fly-tipping at our recycling sites which pulls our resources away from other essential services to clear.
If you would like to know more about fly-tipping and reporting it to us, please visit our website at www.havant.gov.uk/flytip
The census is a unique survey that only takes place every 10 years and will take place from Sunday 21 March 2021.
In March, households will begin receiving letters with online codes to explain how you can complete your online census.
It’s really important that you fill in your census questionnaire. The data collected from the survey helps to plan and fund public services for doctors, hospitals, schools, the emergency, and council services and more. These things matter to us all.
Your details are protected by law and information published is always anonymous.

On Thursday 6 May 2021, residents in the borough will go to the polls to have their say on who represents them in the borough, the county and for the police and crime commissioner.
We are working hard to ensure all polling stations will be safe to visit so you can vote.
There are a number of ways to have your say in May - you can vote in a polling station, by post, or by appointing someone you trust to vote on your behalf, known as a proxy vote.
If you’d like to apply to vote by post, you must be registered to vote first.
Head over to www.gov.uk to register to vote if you are not already registered.
For more information on how to apply for a postal or proxy vote visit www.havant.gov.uk/may-2021-elections.
