 New restrictions have been announced for the borough of Havant as coronavirus infection rates rise
The borough of Havant was moved into Tier 4 by the Government to limit the spread of coronavirus.
This not only affects the town of Havant, but also the wider borough, including Hayling Island, Emsworth, Waterlooville and Leigh Park.
Tier 4 rules limit our travel and ask us to stay at home. They will not be relaxed for Christmas.

What are the rules?
Stay at home
If you live in Tier 4 you must not leave or be outside of your home or garden except where you have a ‘reasonable excuse’.
A reasonable excuse includes:
Work and volunteering - You can leave home for work purposes, where your place of work remains open and where you cannot work from home
Essential activities - You can leave home to buy things at shops or obtain services from a business which is permitted to open in your Tier 4 area, but you should stay local.
Fulfilling legal obligations - For example, you may carry out activities related to buying, selling, letting or renting a residential property.
Exercise and recreation - You can do unlimited exercise alone, or in a public outdoor place with your household, support bubble, or one other person.
Medical reasons, harm and compassionate visits - You can leave home for a medical reason, such as a COVID-19 test, a medical appointment or an emergency.
Communal worship and life events - You can attend a place of worship for communal worship, a funeral or wedding. Numbers may be limited.
For care - You can leave home to provide care for children or people in your support bubble - read more on support bubbles.

"This weekend the Government raised our response to coronavirus to Tier 4. This means new restrictions that require us all to stay at home.
"The new rules affect not just Havant itself but the wider borough, including Emsworth, Hayling Island, Waterlooville and Leigh Park.
"This has been done following a sharp increase in coronavirus infection rates in the area and it is vitally important we follow the new rules and curb the spread of this virulent disease.
"Of course, it will affect all our plans for Christmas and will no doubt disappoint many people who had been planning to see loved ones over the festive period.
"It will also have a serious impact on our shops and businesses who have already suffered so much this year.
"But despite the difficulty, I urge everyone to stick together and stick to the rules laid out in this newsletter and on the government's website. The more we do now, the sooner we will be through this crisis and looking forward to a brighter 2021."
