It’s time to “Get up and Go” in Havant
A fun and social outdoor activity is about to set sail for
residents aged over 55 who live in the borough of Havant.
The new scheme, Get up and Go, begins this Saturday, 28
July, with a FREE coastal rowing open day.
With no need to book, residents can simply turn up at
Northney Marina, Hayling Island, between 10am and 4pm to learn about coastal
rowing, see it in action and have a go!
This social activity requires no experience and is aimed at
those aged 55+ and their families and friends.
As part of the visit residents will have the opportunity to
find out about ‘The learn to row programme’ and chat with instructors and other
like-minded people.
Councillor Leah Turner, Cabinet lead for Communities,
Development and Housing said; “Havant
Borough Council is pleased to be able to offer these new free activities for its
residents over 55 years old. Apart from the obvious health benefits, the views
from the water of the local wildlife and coastline make this an enjoyable way
to spend the day.”
If rowing isn’t your thing, there are plenty more free
activities to take part in, such as table tennis and guided walks. Visit https://www.getupandgohavant.com/
Get up and go is a project lead by Havant Borough Council
and funded by Sport England.
