Ground has been broken as work to create a new waterfront People's Park has begun.
It follows the council approving expenditure of £2m to deliver Phase One of transforming the former bus station site into new public green space.
It's envisaged that Phase One of the scheme will be completed by mid-May. Work will then start on Phase Two, the provision of new food and drink outlets with stunning views across Portsmouth Harbour.
An independent chairperson is now being sought in advance of a community-led board being established to create and deliver a major regeneration project for the Rowner area.
This ten-year-plan, which has been given up to £20m Pride of Place government funding, will be led by residents, community groups and local partners, including business representatives, the council and MP.
Businesses are invited to give feedback on our Gosport draft Local Plan, which sets out where new homes, jobs and leisure could be created up to 2042.
Our plan focuses on developing brownfield land, protecting important open spaces and heritage sites, and opening up more of the waterfront for public use. Key areas proposed for potential development include Fort Blockhouse and parts of the town centre.
A six‑week public consultation is now open until 16 April and drop‑in sessions are being held across the Borough for people to find out more.
