We have approved expenditure of £2m to deliver Phase One of the People's Park, marking a major step forward in transforming the old bus station site into a green space for everyone to enjoy on the waterfront.
With the former bus station building now demolished and the site levelled, work will now move into creating the first parts of the new park.
Pictured is an artist's impression of what the new People's Park will look like when finished.
We're supporting Live Longer Better, a campaign to help residents take small steps to a healthier and happier lifestyle.
It promotes simple, everyday actions that support people's long-term health - tips to be more active and build strength and balance, how to eat well and to stay connected with others.
Throughout 2026, we will be working with partners to deliver a programme of activities, workshops, community events and information to help promote the campaign.
We'll keep you updated as this progresses in your Coastline bulletin, or for more information you can email livelongerbetter@gosport.gov.uk or find out more on our website:
Gosport Borough Council has again been awarded Gold accreditation in the national Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, demonstrating the highest level of support for our armed forces community.
Gold is the highest level of accreditation and is reserved for organisations that consistently go above and beyond in upholding the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.
We are proud to have maintained our gold status since 2021 and will ensure we continue championing our amazing armed forces community, helping Gosport to be a supportive and inclusive place for people who serve and have served.
Work to build a new playpark on Lee-on-the-Solent seafront has started.
We're creating the bold new facility, which will be split into two separate zones - an adventure ninja trail for juniors and teens, and a fitness zone for older children and adults.
It's being created on the site of the old skatepark and is part of the council's commitment to investing in the borough's play areas and green spaces to help residents keep fit and have fun outdoors.
