M27 closure from 24 December to 4 January
Hampshire County Council has warned that a stretch of the M27 will be fully closed from 24 December to 4 January 2026. The major road will be closed between Junctions 9 (Whiteley) and 11 (Fareham). Highways crews will be working 24/7 to install a new four-lane underpass using an innovative ‘box slide’ technique, avoiding what would otherwise be months of disruption. A signed diversion will be in place via the A27, expected to be busy, especially between 10am and 4pm daily. Road users should plan their journey in advance and consider alternatives where possible, including public transport, travelling during less busy times, and using different routes. Click on the link below for more and for the detailed diversion route plan.

New and improved sports facilities in Privett Park
We've had a busy year improving facilities in Privett Park.
Earlier this year we created new outdoor community pickleball courts and refurbished the adjoining tennis courts, and also replaced the park's cricket nets.
We also worked with Gosport Borough Football Club to create a new all-weather 3G pitch and floodlights in the club's Privett Park Enclosure home ground.
More recently we have redecorated two of the park's pavilions, added new 7-a-side football goals for use all year round, and installed new benches near the pickleball and tennis courts for spectators.
It's part of an investment of more than £1m to upgrade sports and leisure facilities across the borough for Gosport residents to benefit from, which includes the use of developer funding.
