We're delighted to 'serve' up brand pickleball courts and revamped tennis courts in Privett Park - completely free for people to use, each day from 7am-9pm.
As well as four newly renovated tennis courts, we've built two new pickleball courts - the first free-to-use, purpose-built pickleball courts on the South Coast for a sport that's rapidly growing in popularity.Â
The high-quality, bright green and blue courts were officially opened by Gosport Mayor Cllr Kirsten Bradley and Council Leader Cllr Peter Chegwyn, alongside very happy players from Gosport Pickleball Club.
Gosport Borough Council has provided £193,000 of funding through developer contributions, as part of a £1m programme to upgrade sports and leisure facilities throughout the borough. £30,000 has come from the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation's Park Tennis Project to revamp the tennis courts.
Not In Our Town - that's the hard message delivered to criminals in Gosport through a major operation between police, the Council and partners.
Over 100 arrests have been made by police for drug-dealing and anti-social behaviour, with properties shut down to make it safer and nicer for residents and town centre businesses.
The Not In Our Town initiative is to clear out the threat of organised crime, and reclaim and rebuild neighbourhoods.
So far it's seen a 20.4% reduction in reports of the most serious crimes, and a 2.6% reduction in crime rates overall, police have reported.
Gosport has won a national award for the work we do helping residents improve their digital skills.
We were among just six winners from a shortlist of 50 - scooping the 'Future Skills' award in the 2025 Visa Let's Celebrate Towns Awards.
The prestigious awards celebrate towns across the UK that are helping to improve their local areas, economy and people's wellbeing.
We won because of our Digital Peninsula initiative which is tackling digital exclusion and boosting people's computer skills and confidence.
The award comes with a £20,000 prize which we'll use for more initiatives to help Gosport people.
