We are currently creating Gosport's first dedicated pickleball courts for the whole community to enjoy this rapidly growing sport.
Work has begun to turn the old courts at Privett Park into two purpose-built pickleball courts and four renovated tennis courts. It's part of our £1m investment in sports and leisure across the borough this year.
Pickleball is really growing in popularity, partly because it's easy to pick up and can be played by all ages and abilities.
It's a sport which is becoming increasingly popular locally - the Gosport Pickleball Club has over 90 members, aging from 20 to 80!
We will let you know when the courts open and how you can try the sport.
The arrival of new shops and businesses onto Gosport High Street is helping to breathe new life into the town, drawing in visitors and shoppers.
McDonald's is returning with a new 48-seat restaurant soon in the former Burton clothing store. Bonmarché opened its new women's clothing store earlier this year, and Wetherspoons recently had a £1m refurbishment.
Alongside the big chains, small independent shops have joined the High Street resurgence - Lara Rose Beauty, The Yoga Being, Blakes café, SMD Computers, Bernards Estate Agents, The Spud Factory, Beat Burgers, Christies Nails and P&Js cash and carry among the welcome arrivals.
The rebranded YourSpace, Gosport offers free co-working, internet access and digital skills training.
And plans have been approved to turn the old Conservative Club into a bar and lounge, further increasing footfall and boosting the evening economy.
Every Tuesday and Saturday there's a traditional high street market, selling everything from fruit and veg, meat, eggs, plants, jewellery and clothing. Plus there's a popular bespoke market held on the last Saturday of the month, helping bring in average Saturday footfall of around 19,000.

The newly appointed Mayor of Gosport has promised to help showcase everything good about the town and borough.
Cllr Kirsten Bradley was elected mayor at a ceremony at Thorngate Halls, taking over from retiring mayor Cllr Richard Earle.
In her speech Cllr Bradley said: "I have always been very proud of our beautiful borough and over the last few years I have really opened my eyes to how many people dedicate their time and energy to make it thrive and a wonderful place to be.
"We have all heard negativity around our hometown. Many don't notice the good.
"See it like a visitor with fresh eyes and appreciate living in the prime south coast of the UK, look for the good and together support all the efforts of businesses and the opportunities that exist."
