New homes taking shape
Great early progress is being made at all three sites where new council housing is being built.
At Wheeler Close, where five new homes are being built, the site has been cleared and work is underway to reduce the ground level.
At Stoners Close, the site for seven homes, the foundations have been excavated and the concrete pour underway.
And at Glebe Drive, the foundations have been laid and work has started on the brick substructure of the three properties there.
Gosport Borough Council is working with contractor PMC Construction to create the 15 new homes for local families to rent, which will help tackle the shortage of affordable housing locally.

We want mums to feel totally comfortable about breastfeeding when out and about. That's why we run our Breastfeeding Welcome scheme with Gosport cafés and venues, which lots of places are already signed up to.
One local mum told us: "I know I’m allowed to breastfeed in public but it makes such a difference when I see the sticker because I know I’m somewhere that truly welcomes breastfeeding and I feel so much more comfortable."
Families can easily identify the businesses who are signed up by looking out for the breastfeeding welcome sticker. You can also find participating venues on our website, by clicking the button below.
As well as supporting families, the scheme is also good for business. Mums tell us they’re more likely to return if they feel welcome.
We want more businesses to sign up. If your venue would like to join, please check out our website or contact: gbfwelcome@gosport.gov.uk
