Something new is happening - watch this space for more information 👀
Our Employment & Skills Hub Team has grown even further and in this edition we welcome Cat who has recently joined us 🎉
I’m Cat and I have recently joined as an Employment Adviser in the IPS team (individual placement support), I have a background of working in the Adult Employability sector and have recently worked on a DWP contract as an Employment Adviser. I am a Mum of 2 and have 2 Grandbabies. Why I like working in this sector is because I enjoy helping people and making a difference.
Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) Assessment
Following the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) Assessment of the LSE (Local Supported Employment) project, we have been awarded a “good” mark, with a score of 81.41%.
There were lots of positive areas where we were exemplar, and they would like to take some examples away to share as good practice and they were impressed with the whole service that we offer people in Gloucestershire. They finished with a statement that we continue to be “market leader”, which is always nice to hear.
We will use the feedback we received to continue to develop and grow our services😊
Vikki Walters, Strategic Lead for Inclusive Employment would like to extend her thanks to Tash Panchbhaya, Nicki Fellows, Amanda Eady, Brad Hodgson, Alice Martin, Kirsten Lloyd and Tom Mayo who played big roles in the success of this assessment, and the rest of the team as well for supporting their colleagues over the past few weeks🙌
Beyond the Label: A Celebration of Ability
The Employment and Skills Hub and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are collaborating on an inclusive job and wellbeing fair.
There will be a range of employers in attendance and organisations who can provide advice on wellbeing, and there will be an area where you can receive advice on how to showcase your talents using social media🌟
If you're in Gloucestershire and looking for some guidance around employment and wellbeing, this is the event for you!
📅Tuesday 3 December ⏰10am-12pm 📍 Stroud District Council, Ebley Mill, GL5 4UB

Work and Health - Our new project
Our latest project focuses on the connection between employment and health. Studies have shown how being successfully employed can have a positive impact on an individual’s physical and mental health. The Employment and Skills Hub has recently launched a project to collaborate with our NHS Primary Care partners across Gloucestershire to encourage their patients to talk about employment 👔
Whether it is help in finding a job, changing to a new role, or an adjustment to take into account such as an existing condition or disability that is preventing them from working, the Hub engages them in a conversation about work, their abilities and ambitions, to either support or signpost them to the best resource.
Andy has taken the role of Project Co-Ordinator for this new project having previously worked in Employer Engagement and leading on our 5050 programme and Kickstart.
Gloucestershire Beyond 16 event
Carys, one of our Employment Advisers recently attended the Gloucestershire Beyond 16 event at SGS Stroud organised by the Transitions Team.
It was a really busy event with over 190 young people with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) and parents in attendance. Carys gave two talks on the Employment and Skills Hub and post-16 options including the AIM project and spoke to lots of parents and young people about their next steps.

Coffee morning at All Saints Academy
The Employment and Skills Hub liaised with Catherine, Careers Lead at All Saints Academy to organise a coffee morning to reach out their employment services to the parents of All Saints Academy students.
There were 3 members of staff from the Hub; Roseanna (Employment Adviser), Jo (Adult Education Multiply team), and Mark (Post 16 Pathways Adviser). Over coffee and biscuits they gave support and advice to encourage the parents to develop skills and seek advice to forge a career pathway☕
The morning was a hit with the parents and Catherine is keen to run another coffee event in the New Year.
Roseanna and Sarah
Sarah was looking for more to do alongside volunteering in a charity shop. Sarah does lots of activities in the community. Employment Advisor Roseanna supported Sarah with an application to volunteer at Extra Care at St Oswald’s. Extra care encourages volunteers from all backgrounds to apply, many customers of the Employment and Skills Hub have volunteered at St Oswald’s to develop their employability skills. Sarah has started to volunteer in a coffee shop and is very excited to gain new skills👏 For Sarah, this will help her with her employability skills in the future. Now Sarah would like to concentrate on volunteering, but she is welcome to come back to our service in the future when she is ready to find part time employment!
Well done Sarah especially for trying out new opportunities with us at the Employment and Skills Hub😊
