Autism Community Grants Update

Autism Community Support Grants are provided to Voluntary and Community Sector organisations to develop and deliver a range of opportunities for autistic children and young people (and those with autistic traits) and their families within Gloucestershire.

EHCP pathway redesign update

This autumn, in line with the GCC SEND & Inclusion strategies and the government’s green paper priorities for SEND and alternative provision ‘Right support, right place, right time’ we will be making improvements to the EHC pathway to give a better experience for families and practitioners.

Banded Funding update

The banded funding initiative is about developing a funding model that is flexible enough to enable more creative opportunities to be accessed and provide the best outcomes for children and young people with SEND early.

We ran a competition in our Spring newsletter to rename Gloucestershire’s Local Offer. The competition entries were reviewed by Gloucestershire’s Parent Carer Forum and they a winning name.

Work on Gloucestershire’s new special school will soon be complete and in time to welcome its new pupils in September.

Improving the arrangements at Gloucestershire’s Pupil Referral Units

In September Gloucestershire County Council will be launching a period of stakeholder engagement to bring Severn Valley School and The Gloucester and Forest Alternative Provision School (GFAPS) together as one entity with effect from September 2023.

An update on the new special school to open in September 2023

Gloucestershire County Council has secured the necessary approvals to establish a new primary special school to open in September 2023, which will operate from school building and grounds previously occupied by Severn View Primary Academy in Stroud.

Expansion of The Heart of the Forest Community Special School

In November 2021, permission was obtained to expand the Heart of the Forest Special School in order to provide places for 10 children with SEMH needs.
