Banded funding is about allocating funds to settings that will allow creativity and flexibility to achieve outcomes at the earliest opportunity. The Banded funding initiative aims to give schools more flexibility to support a child or young person with SEND and to receive that support as early as possible to limit further escalation of needs. Following changes to the Ofsted School inspection handbook (February 2022), the EOI team has updated the document (PDF, 306.8 KB) (version 3) summarising key information regarding types of Ofsted inspection and associated timescales that have been applied from the start of the academic year 2021/22. In addition, paras 230-231 contain updates and clarifications on transitional arrangements: ‘We intend to review whether these transitional arrangements are still needed in time for September 2022.’

The Virtual school is now able to provide a new service, offering support, guidance, advice and signposting to assist all children and young people with a social worker on a Child in Need or Child Protection plan. This is not for those young people already in care or previously looked after. Access to the Kooth service, an online mental wellbeing platform for 11-18 years olds, will end in Gloucestershire on 17 March 2022. The service was commissioned on a temporary basis by the County Council to provide an additional support option for young people during the pandemic. There are now a range of alternative mental health services available in the county for children and young people. The Bulletin Board at the above link has further details.
As a result of decreasing take-up amongst schools within the County, the LA have taken the decision not to renew its bulk subscription to the Fischer Family Trust (FFT) service for the 2022/23 financial year. Voting in the elections for Members of Youth Parliament will be open from Wednesday 9 – 11 March. The voting will take place via a survey and young people (aged 11-18) can vote for their candidate to represent them. The Bulletin Board at the above link has additional information.
