Our waste team, in partnership with district councils, is asking people to make ‘greener’ choices this year to reduce the impact Christmas waste has on the environment.
The campaign will focus on four key areas – food waste, gifts, trees and traditional items such as advent calendars and Christmas crackers.
Visit our Greener Christmas web pages to get some hints, tips and advice on how to make sustainable choices this festive season.

Could you help plant one million trees in Gloucestershire?
GCC are looking for volunteers to assist with tree planting across the county. No long term commitment is needed and opportunities will come up on an ‘as and when’ basis.
The first session will be held during the week commencing 13 December. To register an interest please contact Kelly.osborne@gloucestershire.gov.uk.
Would you like to be involved with our #LeafItOut campaign and prevent flooding?
‘Leaf it out’ encourages members of the public to help keep their local drains clear during the autumn and winter months when fallen leaves are likely to cause blockages, and potentially localised flooding.
Across the county we have nearly 130,000 gullies and kerb weirs, so it makes a big difference and helps us to ensure they’re fully working for when it rains heavily, and means that highways staff are free to prioritise the most urgent flooding issues.
Sign up to our ‘Leaf It Out’ newsletter! You'll be part of the 'leaf it out community' and receive information, tips, advice and campaign updates.
