GSCE Multi-Agency Training and Learning Resources - Update
In mid-March 2020 the country went into lockdown and GSCE was forced to cancel all face to face training. With the ongoing uncertainty the decision was made to extend this to the end of 2020, we are now extending this period until March 2021 and will review over the coming months.
In the meantime we have successfully launched our new GSCE training platform which offers a range of on-line safeguarding children e-learning courses and trainer led virtual courses.
We have begun to develop a new approach to training which moves away from a culture of ‘tick box’ training towards a 'curriculum of learning' approach, based on the premise of Continual Professional Development. The foundation of this is the new training platform, which offers easy access to a range of blended learning resources:
- thematic e-learning courses
- trainer led virtual courses i.e. Child Protection Interagency (level 3)
- self-directed learning through pre-reading and skills tests
- practice briefings
- links to key local and national guidance, protocols and procedures
- live and recorded webinars on local learning
This approach requires practitioners to be continually updating their knowledge and skills and to build-up their own portfolio or passport of continuous learning and to log their CPD hours achieved.
Over the coming months, new courses and resources will be added to the curriculum. Our GSCE Alerts will be sent out to promote the updates - so please keep looking.

GSCE Training Platform – roll out 2020 / 21:
In the first phase of our training launch we have given site access to schools, colleges and early years settings. We have recently also included all GCC staff and social workers and all NHS GPs and GP Practice Nurses. These groups are able to book onto the library of safeguarding e-learning courses and onto the virtual ‘live’ training.
PLEASE FOLLOW YOUR ORGANISATIONAL GUIDANCE WHEN REGISTERING ONTO THE SYSTEM.
In the second phase of the launch we are opening up enrolment, to our other Health colleagues, Police and the private, independent and voluntary sector partner; and will be introducing an Annual Membership scheme for all 'relevant' agencies.
Alerts will be sent out and information posted on the GSCE website to inform practitioners when their agency or organisation has been enrolled and when their staff can register onto the system.
