M5 Junction 11 works by Highways England
Highways England will be starting their works from the evening of Monday 28 September for the full refurbishment of the two main bridges that support the M5 J11 Golden Valley gyratory linking the M5 and the A40.
This will result in the full closure of the junction gyratory until February 2022, this will limit movements at the motorway interchange to ‘left only’ and will place significant additional traffic onto Arle Court Roundabout and Elmbridge Court Roundabout.
We have worked with Highways England to ensure minimal overlap with our works for the West Cheltenham Transport Improvement Scheme. However, please be aware there will be some traffic disruption from next week.
Here is a map of the Highways England M5 Junction 11 closure and access for the duration of their works:
If you have any questions or comments about the works, or would like further information, please contact the Highways England Customer Contact Centre (open 24/7) on 0300 123 5000 or by email at: info@highwaysengland.co.uk
Construction update from Knights Brown
There has been significant progress on the subway extension, with drainage work and the north west wall completed this month.
On Arle Court Roundabout drainage works are complete, following removal of unexpected pipes. Drainage connections have been completed here and installing capability for future traffic signals is underway.
The water main diversion by Severn Trent Water in Hatherley Road has been installed and will be completed in the next few weeks. Water main diversions are also underway on B4063.
In the centre of the roundabout, the stony sub-base for the new inner lane has been laid, and surfacing will happen soon.
Here are some new photos from the site and new drone footage is available on YouTube.
