GCC and the local Headteacher Associations recommend that schools do not hold open days or evenings as such gatherings compromise the safe systems of infection control that schools have put in place to protect children and staff.
Governing Board meetings
Following this week’s announcement and further restrictions, and in order to maintain a ‘COVID secure’ environment in schools, it is important that governors minimise contact with each other, pupils and staff and maintain as much distance as possible on school sites. Governors visiting schools should follow hand and respiratory hygiene guidance as required by the school.
Where governor meetings can be held on a virtual platform, this is recommended.
GCC is hosting a series of live webinars, led by Professor Barry Carpenter (Professor of Mental Health in Education, Oxford Brookes University), to support schools through the process of long term recovery. Free for Head Teachers and Senior Leaders. More information including dates and how to book are available on the Bulletin Board at the above link.
All Schools
In October GCC will pilot a virtual multi-agency forum accessible to all schools to seek support for children and young people whose needs are not being met and may be at risk of exclusion. This has been put in place to support schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, but also aligns with the JAN and High Needs strategies, which are focused on ensuring the right support is available at the right time. More information is available on the Bulletin Board at the above link.
