Waterbeach to Cambridge busway - outline business case approval and next steps
The Greater Cambridge Partnership Executive Board approved the outline business case for the proposed Waterbeach to Cambridge busway.
Our Executive Board decided to take:
- the revised central route and
- travel hub site option C forward to the next stage.
The map below shows the route and travel hub options.
 These decisions followed a consultation in early 2023, at which the revised central route was the most popular. Further technical work also pointed towards the revised central route being the best option.
The Waterbeach to Cambridge scheme would make it easier and greener to get to work, education and leisure. It would also help with congestion along the A10 with thousands of new homes to be built at Waterbeach New Town.
Our next steps will be to carry out preliminary design work, including an environmental impact assessment.
