Footway works are continuing with the first footway and cycleway surfacing visit to lay the base layer having recently taken place. Further surfacing works are booked in for mid-June. In addition, trees are being planted in this section over the coming weeks as works allow.

Herbert Street
Works to start on the construction of Herbert Street junction have commenced today, 30 May, for approximately 10 weeks. The new junction will be constructed in two halves under temporary traffic lights with pedestrian & cyclist access maintained, as well as access for vehicles.

Upcoming works

Moving the Gas Main
The western side of Milton Road from Union Lane to the Milton Arms will be subject to a gas diversion. This has been timed to coincide with the school summer holidays when traffic levels are lower. Traffic will be restricted to one lane, and temporary traffic lights will be in place. The works are schedule to take place over the full six weeks of the holiday, however works will be subject to any unforeseen circumstances which my impact this timeframe.

In addition, once these works start the bus stop at Downham’s Lane will be closed. The closest alternative bus stops are located at Sorbus Walk or at the shops opposite Oak Tree Avenue.

Western quadrants of Highworth Avenue/Elizabeth Way roundabout
We will shortly begin to start engaging with the residents of Highworth Avenue as we look ahead to works starting on the western quadrants of the roundabout. This will include managing access, alongside discussions about the removal of the planters that are in the road prior to any works commencing in the area.

Drop In Session
The next monthly drop-in session will be Monday 5 June between 11:00 – 12:30 at Milton Road library. Please note, this is a drop-in session and visitors are encouraged to free up space for those coming in.
