A1307/Linton Greenway Active Travel Path – works at Worts Causeway Junction

Work to improve the active travel path along the A1307 will start in mid-August, with improvements to the Worts Causeway and Babraham Road junction taking around four weeks to complete.

What’s going to be done?

  • Enhancements to the junction and how it works
  • Installation of new traffic signals
  • Improved signage and road markings
  • Removal of the existing central traffic island and realigning the kerb layout
  • Resurfacing of the new layout and associated sections of Babraham Road
  • Widening the verge between the active travel path and the main carriageway of the A1307, where possible
  • Vegetation trimming, as needed

Road closures and diversions during construction

  • A road closure at Worts Causeway, with a signed diversion route for three weeks
  • One week of temporary two-way traffic lights during off-peak times (9.30am to 3.30pm)

While the junction improvements take place, we’re going to take the opportunity to share road space with Ethical Power Connections so they can install a new renewable electricity supply between Worts Causeway and Addenbrookes Hospital. These works will be carried out between 7pm and 7am to reduce disruption in the area, with any noisy work being completed during the day to reduce disturbance during the night. For any queries on this aspect of the works, email mlei@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

How will the works affect active travel path users?

During construction, safe routes for active travel path users will be maintained.

When the works are being undertaken at the back of the existing path, users will be escorted past the works area.

Whilst temporary lights are in use on the A1307 to enable completion of the kerb lines and active travel path, pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted onto the closed section of the main carriageway.

Thank you in advance for your patience – these works will improve safety for all road users.
