With 95% of us regularly recycling our waste, we’re already the third best recycling nation in the world, and now we’ve teamed up with Wales Recycles to support their Mighty Mission to Wales get to number one.
That’s why, we’re calling on our residents to ramp up their efforts when it comes to food waste recycling.
Whilst almost all Welsh citizens recycle everyday items such as cardboard, bathroom toiletries, and plastic bottles, many are still not recycling all their food waste. In fact, around a third of what’s in the general rubbish bins of Flintshire residents is still food, all of which could be recycled. This means that we actually collect more food waste via the fortnightly black bin collection than we do from the weekly food waste recycling collections!

Flintshire County Council would like to remind residents to renew their subscriptions for the Council’s garden waste collection service, which starts again from 1 March 2023 and runs until 16 December 2023.
Residents can sign up to the scheme at any time during the year, but we are encouraging people to subscribe early to ensure that they benefit from the full collection service for the season, as well as the preferential subscription rate available before 28 February 2023. Subscriptions before this date or online throughout the season are £32 per bin. After 1 March 2023, the standard rate will be £35 if not paying online.
If you signed up for the garden waste collection service last year (2022) you will have received our new style sticker that had an RFID chip embedded within in it. This means that when you sign up for the collection service this year you will not receive a new sticker, the one already affixed to your bin will work again.
