 Following a hugely successful first round, the Rother and Wealden Rural Business Grants Programme is set to return soon. Delivered in partnership by Rother District Council, Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council, and funded through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) – part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund – the programme has already made a significant impact.
From January 2024 to March 2025, the programme awarded over £871,000 in grants to 50 local businesses, helping to unlock more than £1.5 million in total investment, and create 55 new jobs across Rother and Wealden council areas in East Sussex.
The second round will continue to offer grants of up to £35,000 for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses in the delivery area. Funding can support a wide range of projects, including the purchase of new equipment or machinery, premises expansion or adaptation, diversification of farm businesses, and the development of new products or services.

 Sussex Innovation has launched Accelerate50 – a new competition to find the most game-changing business in Sussex.
One ambitious and innovative company will be selected to receive a £50,000 acceleration package, designed to support their next stage of growth. The package includes strategic consultancy, access to a peer-to-peer CEO Club, and a year of free serviced office space for up to 30 staff at Sussex Innovation’s hub.
