There’s something for everyone at your local library this Christmas!
You might think of your library as a calm, warm, relaxing environment packed with fascinating, educational, and inspiring books - and you'd be right - but there's so much more going on, and this Christmas is no exception. We have great events and activities taking place over the festive period. Enjoy a seasonal crafting session or settle down with your little ones to hear their Christmas story and rhyme times, there is plenty on offer.
This December we have renowned singer, songwriter and storyteller Ed Boxall in Rye. We host the Choral Society in Heathfield and Accord Voices in Crowborough, as well as a range of crafts and activities in libraries across the county.
A new display highlighting the positive experiences of Ukrainian guests integrating into East Sussex’s local communities has opened at Eastbourne Library.
Our libraries provide welcoming and safe spaces and, in recognition, have been awarded Sanctuary Status.
Sometimes the hard part is choosing what to read next, so every month we recommend books, old and new to help you choose your next favourite read.
You can borrow 20 books, 10 eBooks, 10 eAudiobooks and reserve 6 books for free!
Do you enjoy knitting and stitching? Why not come to our sociable knitting groups at Crowborough, Hampden Park and Seaford Libraries. We also have a cooperative embroidery project in Battle Library. Meet new friends and enjoy a chat. Everybody is welcome.
We are excited to launch the East Sussex Children’s Book Award 2025.
Celebrating the best in children’s literature and upcoming authors, it is aimed at all primary schools in East Sussex. Children taking part have the chance to enter competitions, write book reviews, vote for the winning title, and even meet the authors!
The shortlisted books and previous winners are all available at the library if you wanted to read along too!
This month our quote is from “We Are Pirates” by Daniel Handler.
