National Poetry Day is about the enjoyment and understanding of poetry, inspiring people to express themselves through poetry and supporting poets and communities.
Lewes Library will be hosting a poetry recital with local East Sussex poets Jeremy Page and Tim Barlow, and a performance piece by EcoBody. This promises to be a fun and friendly celebration of poetry across East Sussex.
We have teamed up with the Hastings Storytelling Festival to bring you acclaimed poet and Carnegie Prize winning children’s author, Joseph Coelho.
Joseph aims to inspire young people through stories and characters they can recognise and explores themes including fear, courage, diversity, gratitude, empathy and loss. Throughout his career he has highlighted the power of poetry and reading, championing libraries and spotlights new voices and diversity throughout his work.
