Congratulations to everybody who took part in the Summer Reading Challenge! This summer 6,334 children challenged themselves to read six books.
Throughout East Sussex young people have visited the library and participated in Claymation workshops, Indian dance, African percussion and junk modelling! If you haven’t collected your prizes yet there is still time, just pop in to your local library.
The Summer Reading Challenge ends on Saturday September 7, so if you want your child to receive their certificate in school, then log in to their library account and fill in the details.
Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations.
Every year for 10 days in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Libraries have special talks by experts and academics about Lady Anne Brassey - celebrated author and intrepid world traveller – and The History of High Weald.

We are excited to be hosting Jyoti Patel.
Jyoti is a previous winner of the #Merky Book New Writer of the Year award for her debut novel, The Things That We Lost. The competition aims to discover unpublished, underrepresented writers from across the United Kingdom and Ireland and includes among their judges, Stormzy.
The novel is a beautifully written tale told from the perspectives of 18-year-old Nik and his British Indian mother, Avani, alternating between the past and present as Nik searches for answers about his father’s death.
