The 2 - 8 of October is Libraries Week, and all month we are celebrating the inspirational role libraries play in helping us unlock and fulfil our potential.
To celebrate we have Writing Workshops, Author Events, Poetry and Spoken Word for adults and children.
To celebrate Black History Month we have teamed up with the Hastings Storytelling Festival to bring you Jordan Stephens – formally of the hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks - with illustrator Beth Suzanna for a very special event. As well as books, eBooks, eComics and eAudio collections that recognise the contribution and achievements of Black Britons throughout our history.
World Menopause Awareness Day highlights the support available to improve health and wellbeing, as well as empowering those who are feeling lost during their menopause or perimenopause journey.
This Menopause Awareness Day we are hosting Karen Newby at Seaford Library. Karen is a nutritionist with over 10 years clinical experience working in women’s health and will be discussing her latest book.
Supported by local poets and charities including Hastings Voluntary Action and Mind, join us at Hastings Library for an open and honest conversation about Men's Health and find out where to get the support you need.
Get Online Week is the UK’s largest digital inclusion campaign. Here at the Library we have:
- Free computers and WiFi
- Accredited IT courses at our Learning Services
- Free online databases including family history research, encyclopedias and business directories
- 1000s of eMagazines, eNewspapers, eBooks, eAudio and eComics
- In-library tablet loans
If you would like support, remember we have IT For You volunteers ready to help you take your first digital steps.
Looking for free activities in the library this Autumn? Would you like to meet new friends or try something new? We've got storytellers, singers and spooky crafts. With regular board games sessions and rhymetimes for the children we’ve got plenty at the library to keep you busy.
Are you a fan of medieval historical fiction? Come to Battle Library and meet local author, Ethan Bale. He will be discussing the challenges of writing about medieval history & his latest book set during the War of the Roses.
This month our quote is from The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter.
