 April is almost here and with it the hope of warmer weather and more of the sights and sounds of spring. It also means we’ll get to enjoy more of the major public events that feature in the East Sussex calendar. We’ve found just a few, including some eggstraodinary Easter fun, to give you some suggestions for getting out and about.
 Did you see one of our foster families on the BBC's The One Show? We couldn’t be more proud of the national exposure one of our foster families received when they were interviewed for programme by Ronnie Archer-Morgan last month.
Ronnie (you may know him from the Antiques Roadshow) has positive memories of his own foster family in Eastbourne. In his segment, he returns to Eastbourne and meets up with his foster sisters to catch up and revisit old memories. On that same day, Ronnie and The One Show team also met with a local foster family.  On National Poet’s Day, Simon Armitage, Poet Laureate, came to Eastbourne on the latest leg of a UK tour. He described the pleasure of visiting his village library and how he now hopes to put something back.
 Since the launch of the Homes for Ukraine scheme in East Sussex, more than 800 host families across across the county have welcomed over 1,800 Ukrainian guests into their homes. This month marked 12 months since the UK Government launched the scheme, and we spoke to one host who opened her home to a young Ukrainian family fleeing the fighting.  It's not too late if you want to get involved in the national Great British Spring Clean. The focus of this year's event is sweeping up the waste of the nation, clearing our streets and green spaces of nasty litter. Entering its 8th year, Keep Britain Tidy’s annual litter picking campaign runs until Sunday (2nd April). You can find out more in our story below.

More cost of living support
People who live in care homes or supported accommodation may now be able to claim £400 towards their energy costs. You can apply if you pay some of your care costs, and do not pay an energy bill directly. More information about the Energy Bills Scheme Alternative Fund, with details of how to apply, is on the government site. Find out more here. Well-being at work awards
East Sussex businesses committed to developing healthier and happier workforces were celebrated at a special event recently. 25 local businesses from across the county were presented with their awards at the first annual Well-being at Work Conference and Awards event. Read the full story here
