Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy released a video on International Women's Day (8 March), thanking the women 'who work, teach, study, save, treat, fight for Ukraine,' and also those women 'who gave their lives for the country'.
International Women's Day is a global holiday celebrated annually as a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

In October last year, East Sussex County Council agreed to increase the monthly thank you payments to hosts to provide some additional support over the winter months with the increased costs of living and associated costs of hosting. We extended this period for 6 months between October and March.
We will continue to pay hosts the increased monthly amount on an ongoing basis. These payments will apply to all hosts, regardless of how long their guests have resided with them.
Payments will be made as follows:
- Hosts with 4 guests or less will continue to receive £500 per month
- Hosts with 5 or more guests will continue to receive £650 per month
We continue to be grateful to all hosts in East Sussex who continue to support their guests and the programme, and we hope that the extension of the current monthly payments will be welcome news to all sponsors.
If you have any queries about host payments, please contact us via ukraine@eastsussex.gov.uk
