It is really important to us that all Ukrainian guests are safe and well. From this week onwards, we will be carrying out welfare visits for all guests who have been living with their hosts for 6 months or more.
The purpose of the welfare visit is to check guests are safe and well, confirm your guests are still living at your property and to provide advice, guidance and information to you and your guest(s) whilst providing the opportunity to express any concerns or difficulties you might be having. We would appreciate the cooperation of guests and hosts when welfare visits are arranged with you.
A national charity called RE:SILIENT will be carrying out the visits on behalf of East Sussex County Council. RE:SILIENT will make contact with hosts to agree a date for the visit.
What to expect:
- For your safety, RE:SILIENT will produce identification to prove they are there to carry out the welfare visit on behalf of East Sussex County Council.
- At least one adult guest will need to be present during the welfare visit. RE:SILIENT will only meet with children in the presence of a parent or legal guardian, or with their consent.
- RE:SILIENT will have access to translation or interpreting services for guests, where this is needed.
- During the visit, guests will be asked some simple questions about their safety and wellbeing. These will be recorded on an online form and sent to us at East Sussex County Council.
- If they have no concerns, there will be no further action. If you or your guest do raise concerns during the welfare visit, or if RE:SILIENT are worried about guests safety or welfare, they may give you advice during the visit or record the concerns so we can contact you again to provide further information, advice or support.
We expect these checks will start from this week, so please expect to be contacted by RE:SILIENT in the coming weeks. You can preview the types of questions you'll be asked by clicking the link below.
