The month of November has a focus on men’s health. To mark this ‘Movember’ we have connected with Mankind Eastbourne and the Samaritans for a candid conversation about Men’s Mental Health.
We have Reading Well collections, self-help books, poetry and fiction for people who are finding it difficult to cope or need advice.
To celebrate International Games Month we are holding Open Games Sessions in our libraries. A selection of games will be available to play, from Scrabble to Pass the Pigs!
We are excited to launch the East Sussex Children’s Book Award 2023.
Celebrating the best in children’s literature and upcoming authors, it is aimed at families using the library and all primary schools in East Sussex. Children taking part have the chance to enter competitions, write book reviews, vote for the winning title, and even meet the authors!
This November we are asking you to donate 1 product to help us tackle period poverty.
It is estimated that currently over 137,000 young people across the UK have missed school days due to period poverty. Eastbourne, Hastings, Hailsham and Newhaven libraries are offering donated period products to anyone who needs them.
How are you left feeling once you have been scammed?
You may be left with a mixture of emotions, – feelings of vulnerability, loneliness, isolation, embarrassment. Some people experience a sense of shame and can be left anxious and depressed, losing trust in others and of feeling safe and secure.
Age UK will be visiting our Libraries and can provide you with information and one-to-one advice on how to help you stay safe.
Young people's mental health has never been more pressing. An estimated 1 in 8 young people have a diagnosable mental health condition. Reading Well for teens is developed by The Reading Agency in partnership with Libraries Connected, providing information, advice and support to better understand their feelings, handle difficult experiences and boost confidence.
Is it too early to mention Christmas? Seaford and Rye have their Seasonal Festivals on the 3 December, and we are getting involved with stories, songs and violins! More next Month!
