There is deep sorrow in East Sussex at yesterdays announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Commonwealth, and by people around the world.
Tributes are being paid to our longest serving monarch by people across Sussex. Flags are flying at half mast outside Government and council buildings and books of condolence will be open at various locations from today. Alternatively you can pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen on the royal families website here.
Among the tributes, the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Andrew Blackman, said the Queen’s commitment to duty over a reign of 70 years was “unparalleled”.
King Charles III is expected to return to London today and to address the nation later.
Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this incredibly sad time.
An event is being held on Sunday 11th of September at Ashburnham Place inviting guests and hosts across East Sussex to join.
The event will involve a BBQ & an afternoon for Ukrainian families & their hosts, including activities for kids and wonderful walks in the beautiful nature of Ashburnham Place.
