Guests arriving through the Homes for Ukraine scheme are entitled to a range of benefits and services including a £200 grant to help cover any immediate costs while they settle in.
Guests will receive a text message with a voucher which can be used at any branch of the Post Office to receive the £200 payment.
Alternatively, Ukrainian guests can ask for the payment to be sent by cheque which can then be cashed at any branch of Nat West bank. To request this option once you have arrived in East Sussex, please email 📩 ukraine@eastsussex.gov.uk
Hosts are entitled to an optional monthly payment of £350 to thank them for their generosity. They will be emailed directly with details of how they can apply for this payment. Most hosts will already be receiving these payments.
Local voluntary associations are no longer involved in the payment process, please do not contact them regarding this. If you are unsure about the process, please refer to the host guide below for more information.

We have another newsletter that brings you the latest news on the work of the East Sussex Health and Social Care Partnership and includes news and updates on health and social care in our county.
We know that many of our Ukrainian guests have now been with us in East Sussex for several months, and are thinking about their future beyond living with their hosts. With the war showing no signs of abating, the support of hosts in East Sussex remains a vital response to this international crisis.
We want to ensure that Ukrainian families have the best possible chance of moving on from hosting in a planned way. For most people this will mean finding work and a place to live, and becoming independent members of our community.
For many people, it will take time to be ready to move on, particularly as affordable housing can be hard to find, so where possible we hope that hosts can continue to offer their homes and their support for longer than the minimum of 6 months. All hosts can continue receiving thank you payments for up to 12 months.
We expect the Government to be in contact with all guests and hosts soon to let you know of their plans and advise on next steps. We will also keep in touch regularly from now on with news of information, advice and services your guests can access to help them settle independently in the UK.
Whilst we know that many of you are planning to continue supporting your guests beyond 6 months, in those instances where this is not possible, we will provide information, advice and support when it is needed. If you are genuinely concerned that you cannot continue beyond the 6 month period, please do get in touch and let us know what support you need.
We want to reassure you that we are developing support to help your guests access employment and accommodation, and you will receive more information in the near future as we develop those services.
We will include this section as a regular feature of the newsletter to provide the information, advice and service information you need to make your plans.
This newsletter is sent to every host (sponsor) in East Sussex who is part of Homes for Ukraine to keep you updated. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We expect to send you a further update next week. Until then, we'd like to wish you all an enjoyable weekend.
