With the Platinum Jubilee fast approaching, many of us are gearing up to celebrate the Queen’s 70-year reign on the throne. Here are just a few ways to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in East Sussex in style.
Don't worry if Jubilee events don't float your boat, or if you're looking for events happening later in the month. We've picked out some other community activities in the county diary during the rest of June to keep families busy.
We recently sat down with Gabriella, a Resource Officer for ESCC’s Adult Social Care Team who is doing a Social Worker Degree Apprentice at the University of Brighton, to discuss her journey so far. Read about her experience and find out if an apprenticeship might be right for you.
Foster Care Fortnight might have been and gone this month, but across the county there are still more than 70 children waiting for a family. We need more people to consider joining our fostering community, and time is of the essence. Could you offer support to a child or young person?
Library move cancelled due to sale of centre
Peacehaven library is to remain in its current location following the recent sale of the Meridian Shopping Centre to Morrisons. In response to the previous plans to redevelop the site by the Co-op, East Sussex County Council’s library service identified the Joff Centre as a temporary alternative location. But plans to relocate have now been put on hold, and the library will remain in the Meridian Centre. Read more about the change of plans.
Welcome Wednesdays return to The Keep
Visitor introduction sessions will be restarting at The Keep Archive Centre from Wednesday, June 1. The centre’s Welcome Wednesday sessions, which were stopped during the Covid-19 pandemic, are set to resume on the first Wednesday of each month. Expert staff will be on hand to answer questions and show visitors the specifics of researching at The Keep. Find out more here.
Events at local libraries celebrate Queen’s Jubilee
East Sussex Libraries will be running a series of events across the county during May half term to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Free events include Jubilee-themed Rhymetime and Storytime sessions, crown-making craft workshops and author-led storytelling events. Find out what's on in your local library.
